Attention Deficit Disorder?

While Joe will readily admit that Bruce has ADD, he's never been officially diagnosed with it. But during this time, Joe decided to embrace a bit of Bruce's ADD when he proposed that if he could make a decent 3d animated trailer for YARD WARS it might light a fire under him to move the project forward faster to completion. "Go for it," Joe (who didn't exist then) said supportiveLY. (More on -LY later).

Joe's first project

Altho it wasn't really a joint project yet, we had a writer's weekend/mini-g and we spent some of our time in the hotel writing a treatment for "Yard Wars" by Bruce. We seem to be at our best when we can bounce ideas off each other, creating better ideas (synergy) than either one of us alone seem to be able to come up with. Even on our solo projects up to this point, our ideas are always improved by frequent discussion with our "muse." At the end of the weekend there were notes that led to a 19 page treatment, start to finish of "Guns" or "YW" (the censored, mother-friendly title espoused by my... spouse).

We also played Dr. Mario, ate pizza and hung with G and saw some movies.

Years Forgotten

[Added 12/29/11]: A project is born -- my "magnum opus" because it'll be so cool. At first it's dubbed SPACE BATTLES. Why? Because I can't use STAR WARS, that's why. I will (someday) upload the "awesome" cover artwork I drew in 5th grade.

The cast of characters was vast. And inventive. I still remember (almost) all of them: Kirk Hannon, Jeff Phillips, Robert Larson, 4th guy, 5th guy. Plus two token women for "romance." And never forget the coolest villian of all time -- The Headhunter. And his evil minions.

Jeff Phillips got raped and pillaged for GUNS (as did, thankfully, "The Headhunter"), and now they live on. But Kirk Hannon, my favorite, has been "saved" for the opus. His name is an omage (of course, though not quite so "subtle" as I'd congratulated myself on in 5th grade) to the two great sci-fi epics. The Headhunter, a more subtle, less stereotypical and less maniacal bad-guy is also saved. Over time I learned more about them -- like his defeat at the hands of the Headhunter (which remains), and their eventual tenuous friendship. In high school I decided some things about KH I didn't know before. After talks with my dad about theories on time travel, and reading HG Wells' TIME MACHINE, ... AND... after hearing Midnight Oil's FORGOTTEN YEARS, I decided that he was a historian and would be the only one aware of humanity's "forgotten years" before the Headhunter and his alien brood intruded. And, his mission was to ensure that "these will not be forgotten years." Hence the title change in the past decade.

And yet... the story continues to sit. Though outline work was completed. Updates will come when they do. My King muse is unforgiving about not working. Perhaps today...

Joe Casburn is "born"

While Joe started functioning at this time, he certainly wasn't named, yet. In fact his creators didn't even know Joe was functioning as Joe. But he was working his way into things. Perhaps JOE is the MUSE, eh? The Muse began to suggest things to Bruce and Jason. Ideas for playing guns, drawings, etc. Anyway. This was the year. Don't know what day. Don't know what month. But this is when things started: I was walking around the block (hence the dating for summer), and Jay shouted at me from across the street, "Hey, that's a cool gun." Referring to my Han Solo gun. I'm not sure what I said, but I felt extremely validated and felt that yes. Yes it was a cool gun. I'm not sure who said, "You want to be friends?" But the other replied in the affirmative.

This isn't too gay, is it? ("Not that there's anything wrong with that.")

One thing you need to know about Joe: he knows how to quote movies and television. And, it's freaking hilarious. I don't care who you are. Not a lot of people get Joe when he quotes movies, but he just thinks it might be because they're retards. No offense. Entertainment Challenged.
